The Carnival of Cusco usually happens in February, the first major appointment of the year. A rituals, the yunza: plant a gigantic tree in the city and drop off gifts and surprises to the foot. Everybody dance around the tree and at the end it must be cut up to die for. He who gives the last stroke of the ax in the tree has to take care of Nyanza the following year.
