District of the province of Abancay
One of the new district of the province Abancay in the department of Apurimac. The district was created in 1943 by the first governor Manuel Prado Ugarteche. This is the starting point for trekking 31.5kms the Choquequirao archaeological complex which then can continue on 100kms to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
